Installation
- Flash the firmware like any regular update. No need to reset to factory defaults unless specified
- .
- If the upgrade fails, reboot the router to free up memory without any USB disk plugged in, then try flashing again
- .
- After an upgrade, if you run into issues, do a factory default reset
- .
- Always read the changelog for any mandatory reset requirements
- .
- Do not load a saved copy of your settings after resetting. Create a new backup after reconfiguring
- .
It is strongly recommended to reset to factory defaults when:
- Updating from a firmware version more than 3 releases older
- Switching from a Tomato/DD-WRT/OpenWRT firmware
You can revert back to the original Asus firmware at any time by flashing a firmware downloaded from Asus's website.
